چکیده
Several dry processing techniques are assessed to elaborate metallic nanocomposite powders dedicated powder-bed-based (PBB) additive manufacturing as laser-powder bed fusion (L-PBF) and Binder Jetting (BJ). Electrostatic assembly of nanosized silicon carbide (35 nm) particles at the surface gas atomized aluminium (15-53 ?m) is performed using mixers covering a range mixing energy from rotative drum mixer high such shear paddle acoustic mixers. Analyses particle size distribution (PSD) mixtures show that only high-energy bring monomodal PSD describing complete electrostatic nanoparticles. Statistic image analysis confirms absence plastic deformation during mixing. The coating leads drastic increase starting host powder flowability apparent density, while reducing optical reflectivity. Finally, oxidation SiC nanoparticles affects efficiency.

متن کاملPredictive Simulation of Process Windows for Powder Bed Fusion Additive Manufacturing: Influence of the Powder Bulk Density
The resulting properties of parts fabricated by powder bed fusion additive manufacturing processes are determined by their porosity, local composition, and microstructure. The objective of this work is to examine the influence of the stochastic powder bed on the process window for dense parts by means of numerical simulation. The investigations demonstrate the unique capability of simulating ma...
متن کاملResidual Stress in Metal Parts Produced by Powder-Bed Additive Manufacturing Processes
In this study, residual stresses from the electron beam additive manufacturing (EBAM) and selective laser melting (SLM) processes, due to repeated thermal cycles, were investigated. Residual stresses play a crucial role in part performance, and thus, it is critical to evaluate the process-induced residual stresses in AM parts. Ti-6Al-4V and Inconel 718 parts produced by EBAM and SLM, respective...
متن کاملConsolidation phenomena in laser and powder-bed based layered manufacturing
Layered manufacturing (LM) is gaining ground for manufacturing prototypes (RP), tools (RT) and functional end products (RM). Laser and powder bed based manufacturing (i.e. selective laser sintering/melting or its variants) holds a special place within the variety of LM processes: no other LM techniques allow processing polymers, metals, ceramics as well as many types of composites. To do so, ho...
متن کاملContact-Free Support Structures for Part Overhangs in Powder-Bed Metal Additive Manufacturing
This study investigates the feasibility of a novel concept, contact-free support structures, for part overhangs in powder-bed metal additive manufacturing. The intent is to develop alternative support designs that require no or little post-processing, and yet, maintain effective in minimizing overhang distortions. The idea is to build, simultaneously during part fabrications, a heat sink (calle...
